Taking your doctorate at UW
UW offers attractive conditions for doctoral students. Our trademark is our interdisciplinary research centers. In addition, UW has its own service unit tasked with informing graduates and doctoral/postdoctoral students about national as well as international sources of funding and scholarships; direct applications can also be made to UW for postgraduate scholarships.
Further advantages of UW for doctoral and postdoctoral studies are its medium size, with staff ratios that allow intensive professorial consultation and supervision, and its library with holdings of 1.2 million books and some 3.300 subscribed periodicals and journals from across the world. An April 2007 user survey rated the library highly for its comprehensive holdings, the large number of computer workstations (with Internet access), and long opening hours (weekdays usually till 10 p.m.), as well as the competence and helpfulness of its staff.
