Funding sources for international doctoral students

The official website ‘Research in Germany’ of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space provides general information on research funding in Germany and an overview of organisations that support doctoral studies.

The EURAXESS Germany Portal provides information aboutscholarships and funding for international scholars (including doctoral students) pursuing research in Germany.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides information for international students on study and research in Germany about sources of funding, applications to the DAAD, competitions, external funding, and funding programs for musicians and artists.

DAAD download pages provide application forms and information in several languages for research scholarships and corresponding recommendations for international graduates, doctoral students and postdocs. These downloads will give you an idea of what is important for your application.
