Membership
All doctoral candidates automatically become members of the Centre for Graduate Studies when they enrol at the University of Wuppertal in accordance with the CGS regulations. This allows them to take advantage of the Centre's services, apply for financial support and take part in the election for the two doctoral student representatives on the Centre's Executive Board. As a rule, a printout of the CGS profile (see below) serves as proof of membership (e.g. for an application for a scholarship as part of UW's doctoral funding programme); alternatively, written confirmation can also be requested from the CGS office.
Postdocs and UW professors can also become members of the CGS upon application. Doctoral alumni and (post-)doctoral students from other universities have the opportunity to become associate members in order to take advantage of the Centre's services. Master's students at UW who are interested in doing a doctorate can subscribe to our mailing list and take advantage of some of the courses and counselling offered (especially the events in the ‘Wege zur Promotion’ series).
In order to receive e-mails on PhD-related topics, including relevant news and invitations to events and workshops for PhD students and PostDocs, please feel free to subscribe to the CGS mailing list.
Your personal contact page on the CGS website – a virtual visiting card
CGS offers all UW doctoral students and postdocs the opportunity to create their own contact page on the CGS website. The following details are relevant:
- contact addresses (e.g. department or unit, e-mail)
- brief biographical details
- abstract of thesis or habilitation project (not more than 200 words)
- papers already presented
- publications
- other academic activities and memberships
- digital photo (optional) – to be sent to zgs[at]uni-wuppertal.de
