Titel und Abstract des Dissertationsprojektes
Risk Communication in Europe- a best practice for Europe.
Supervisor: Prof. Erika Werlen (Wuppertal)
In 2011, there is a need for energy than ever before. Nuclear energy remains the main energy source for almost all European countries. Nuclear means also present one of the biggest dangers for Europe. A great risk that the European Union also has to consider is the malicious use of nuclear means. With the Chernobyl disaster and the recent events in Japan, it has become clear how important risk communication is in such events. Such events involving CBRN dangers could affect all European Member States perhaps even simultaneously. For this reason, it is important for the risk communication within the Member States to be assessed and an interface of common risk communication to be created. This dissertation will look at the risk communication used in Germany and in England to see if there can be a “best practice” which would enable better communication between the European Member States and a better chance of overcoming CBRN events together.
