Biografie

I obtained my master’s degree from La Sapienza University of Rome (110/100 cum laude), discussing a thesis on the fifth book of Macrobius’ Saturnalia. My current fields of interest are textual criticism, Greek and Latin paleography, ancient commentaries and the history of ancient scholarship.

Title and abstract of thesis project:

A new critical edition of Pomponius Porphyrio’s commentary on Horace with a philological comment.

The manuscript tradition of Pomponius Porphyrio’s commentary on Horace offers a stable text and the possibility of tracing a reliable stem. However, his work is still read in Holder’s critical edition (1894), which is scientifically inaccurate. The aim of my project is to offer a new critical text with a philological comment discussing the relevant passages.
